Fieldwork, listening and handwritten notation.

The collection brings together songs gathered in the field, musical transcriptions and scholarly analysis. The master’s thesis was completed at the State Higher School of Music in Katowice in 1974 under the supervision of Adolf Dygacz.

This edition was initiated by the collector’s son, Aleksander Gabryś. It aims to preserve the connection between notation, recording, performer and place of collection.

An authorised biography, fieldwork recollections and a foreword by the collector are planned.
